Student Films, Ambition, and Total Chaos

A group of film students set out to make their masterpiece — a sweeping epic shot in glorious 4K. The only problem: they have no money, no equipment, and no idea what they are doing. The result is a comedy about the gap between cinematic ambition and ground-level reality.

Zanzibar 4K is sharp, self-aware, and very funny. Director Lea Tošić has a gift for finding the comedy in desperation, and the film moves with the chaotic energy of people making art against the odds.

Winner of a Special Jury Mention at the Sarajevo Film Festival 2024. Selected for the Short Film Competition at Brač Film Festival 2025.
