Learning When to Speak

Hana is a shy sixteen-year-old, secretly in love with Balša — one half of local social media duo Luka & Balša. The next morning, she wakes up to find her father is gone. While the family argues over how his funeral should look, Hana confronts her mother's inability to resist the pressure of those around her.

Disappointed and confused, Hana flees to a lake — where new disappointment awaits. She quickly discovers that Balša is not the boy she had imagined, and she finds herself at the centre of an emotional storm: jealousy, hidden violence, and the tension of a love triangle with Luka and Balša.

Srđan Vuletić's Otter is a compassionate, unsentimental portrait of a young woman learning when to stay silent — and when it's time to finally take a stand.
