Sisters, Secrets, and a House on the Island

Tonina is a sharp, driven owner of an accounting firm where she employs both her husband and her daughter. On top of managing her business, she is also the primary caregiver for her demented and bedridden mother — quietly shouldering a weight that never seems to lighten.

Her younger sister Tajana takes a very different view of life: more relaxed, less ambitious, unbothered by obligation. The two sisters have long maintained an uneasy peace — until Tonina secretly buys their family's share of the island house from cousin Željka, breaking a promise the sisters had made to buy it together.

Director Igor Jelinović's Koke is a wry, compassionate look at family loyalty, silent resentments, and the invisible labour that holds families together — right up to the moment it doesn't.
